Instructor: Justin Teague – Vista Professional Outdoor Lighting
In Teague’s years of working with lighting contractors, he’s learned a lot about handling new situations, learning from them and becoming more efficient. Keeping up with trends and technology while embracing new experiences in challenges, while uncomfortable at first, can improve a contractor’s salesmanship and versatility.
“We live in a ‘click bait’ society where consumers are almost always enticed to question a contractors pricing, bid or direction,” Teague says. “My advice to contractors is to provide their professional value upfront so that will never be in question.”
Teague is known for his expertise in helping contractors set up nighttime demos as a sales tool. While some people may think these demos are a lot of work just to get a single job, Teague looks at it from a different perspective.
“To me, I’m selling art,” he says. “I don’t care if it’s a 10-fixture or a 100-fixture job; I share the same excitement for both. If I were a contractor, I would want to showcase my creativity within multiple landscapes and the flexibility in working with a variety of different clients. Nighttime demos give you the opportunity to improve those skills.”
