This year, we were very fortunate to assemble an amazing panel of presenters including Ross Kurcab (formerly Head Turf Manger for the Denver Broncos), Luke Yoder (formerly Head Groundskeeper for the San Diego Padres), and local legends like Christi Clay and Sun Roesslein of Jefferson County Schools and Rob Sedlak of Foothills Park and Rec District, just to name a few. The presenters donated their time on a volunteer basis for the better good of the industy.
The event was a joint project between CPS distributors, inc. and the CSTMA (Colorado Sports Turf Managers Association). The event was made possible by sponsoring partners and the City of Denver Public Works that hosted the event. The goal was to provide Denver area municipality parks & rec employees with valuable education sessions based on a variety of topics including: infield maintenance, turf management, water management, and logo painting that would assist workers in creating safer, more beautiful, more water-efficient public fields for the public to enjoy.
The action-packed day included 9 different presentations broken into 30 minute sessions, complete with hands-on training, presentations and time for Q & A. The event concluded with a free grilled lunch, prize giveaways and closing statements from CPS employees and CSTMA members.
After a great day of learning, attendees and presenters gathered around a beautiful city of Denver logo that had been painted by Jefferson County Schools employees Christi Clay and Sun Roesslein. Presenters explained the vital role that the CSTMA played in creating career opportunities for them. We learned that the CSTMA served as a platform for many of our presenters and event organizers to meet eachother. In fact, Sun Roesslein explained that the logo painting without a stencil technique she taught at the event had been taught to her from fellow CSTMA members. Prizes and giveaways were exchanged, and then we all posed for a drone photo.

According to Ross Kurcab from Champion Sports Field Systems:
I was completely blown away presenting at this wonderful event. I had a blast, and we all learned something. I know I did. The best part were the attendees. So engaged and great questions! When is the next one?
Ross Kurcab
According to Chris Wellborn from Pro’s Choice
The Sports Field Turf Training Day at Lowry Sports Complex in Denver, CO was the first event we’ve attended since partnering with CPS. We were blown away with how organized and well attended the event was. CPS has a first class team with first class customers. We look forward to attending many more in the future.
